Book synopsis

Dragon: The story of a fiery Thoroughbred and the girl who loved him takes the reader through the life story of Fancy Fella, aka the Dragon. Through his owner, author Katrina Balding Bills’ voice, his tale will engage readers, young and old, horsefolk and petlovers, alike. The two were equally young and full of promise, but would find life together full of his fiery temperament, challenges, triumphs, and tribulations. Their story centers on the Northern and Central Virginia Hunt Country, horse shows, foxhunting, and a particularly impressive all-women’s college.

For nearly thirty years, their lives were inextricably entwined, for better or worse. Some classified Fella as a rogue, dangerous and an unpredictable biter. Others admired his incredible talent and her unshakeable belief and determination. They competed in three disciplines and hunted for seventeen seasons. That length of life with such unique depth and breadth of experiences, is nearly unheard of in the horse world. Their deep bond was undeniable, the love between them unshakeable, and his legacy is one every horse crazy kid or grown up will relish.
